A guided tour a little out of the ordinary.

A trip with Longyearbyen Guiding is more than just a minibus trip from hotspot to hotspot. Our guide Magnus, who grew up here, tells about the old mining town, what life was like here then and until today, and about historical events and personal experiences from his 30 years of working up here. After the tour and the memory stick full of spectacular photos, he is happy to take the guests to lunch at Kroa in Svalbard or dinner at Mary-Ann's Polarrigg, where he gives you several historical stories from the town.

Once in a lifetime authentic experience

«Was fortunate enough to fell in to talks with one of the owners of the enterprise, who invited us to a trip, basically because he didn't have any plans that day (the authenticity will be elaborated later). We met up at the local venue Kroa, where we had coffee, and from there on it was so laid back, no fixed schedule, no rush or stress. During the tour we were fed with old anecdotes about his (the guides) own childhood memoires, his mishaps as a young boy, and some really local interesting telling, this combined with fantastic "tourist picturing opportunities" made the 3 hours trip non-forgettable. After the tour we were invited to great food at the local restaurant, which btw had great service and food, joined by the guide, which made it for us. Sitting, eating and talking about everything and nothing just made our day. I can only advise everyone to visit Longyearbyen Guiding for a tour, definitely not what to expect, not your typical "move it along, time is short, I just wanna make money" experience. If I could give 6 in rating I would. And did I just have to write one word, it would be - wow.»
